Great Healthy Smoothie Recipes
Our Strawberry Smoothie is a great one for breakfast or anytime you want to fill up and be satiated for hours. The oats and flax seed both work their magic with extra fiber, manganese and magnesium. Further, the flax contributes important omega-3 fatty acids(good fat), while the oatmeal supplies selenium (important for cognitive and healthy immune system function). Bon Appétit!
Strawberry Oat Smoothie
1/2 cup organic rolled oats (Gluten Free if available)
1.5 cups rice milk (alternately almond or organic soy)
1 1/4 cup ice
6 oz frozen Strawberries (try blueberries, blackberries or other fruit)
1 ripe frozen banana (for refreshingly cool drink)
1 tsp Vanilla (alcohol-free preferably)
2 Tbsp flax seed meal (or grind your own flax seeds)
Directions: Add oats, milk, strawberries, banana and vanilla to blender and blend.
Now, Blend the flax in. By adding the flax seed last, it won’t get clumpy from being packed
Eggless Nog Smoothie is quite a flavorful treat with its spicy combo of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. But what if nog is not your thing? Then add the spices that you love and this will still be a flavorsome beverage.
Eggless Nog Smoothie
1/2 cup Hemp Seeds
2 cups water
1 Banana, frozen (for refreshingly cool drink)
1-2 Tbsp coconut oil (optional)
2 pinches ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp cinnamon (that’s half of a 1/4 tsp–you knew that)
1 pinch clove (optional)
1 pinch salt
Add all ingredients to your blender and process until smooth and creamy. Serve immediately. If you refrigerate shake well before you serve. Add a pinch of freshly ground nutmeg on top.
Note: Want our eggless nog thicker? Add a small handful —1/6 cup cashews (soaked) and omit coconut oil). Want our nog even healthier–substitute coconut oil for flax seed meal.
